Manchester City win their 4th consecutive Premier League title!

Manchester city are the champions of EPL

Manchester City have made history as the first English team to win four consecutive league titles, following a 3-1 victory over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s team has now secured six Premier League titles in the last seven seasons, finishing this campaign with 91 points, while Arsenal fell short for the second consecutive year.

Phil Foden scored twice and Rodri added a third, sealing a dominant win on a landmark day for both the club and English football.

Despite Mikel Arteta’s side defeating Everton, it wasn’t enough to prevent City from clinching the league by a two-point margin.

Previously, only Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson had won three consecutive Premier League titles, achieving this between 1998-99 and 2000-01, and again from 2006-07 to 2008-09. Before the Premier League era, Huddersfield Town, Arsenal, and Liverpool were the only teams to have won three titles in a row.

Last season, City equaled the record of three consecutive titles as part of their Treble-winning campaign, and they have now set a new standard with their fourth consecutive title.

Erling Haaland played a crucial role in City’s success, scoring 27 goals to claim the Premier League’s Golden Boot for the second consecutive year, following his record-breaking 36 goals last season.

Phil Foden, a lifelong City supporter, was the standout player of the season, earning both the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year and the Premier League Player of the Year honors, with 19 goals and eight assists.

Manchester City lost only three games this season, while Arsenal lost five. The Gunners will particularly regret their home defeat to Aston Villa, managed by former boss Unai Emery, where two late goals by Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins in April marked a turning point in their title challenge.

A 0-0 draw with City at the Etihad in March was initially seen as a positive result for Arsenal, but a victory would have secured them the title.

In the first half of the season, Arsenal suffered defeats against Newcastle, Aston Villa, West Ham, and Fulham, with back-to-back losses to West Ham and Fulham extending their winless streak to 3 matches following a draw with Liverpool.

City's 2-0 win away at Tottenham, where Guardiola’s side has historically struggled, was pivotal, as was a crucial save by Stefan Ortega against Son Heung-min that preserved their lead.

City finished the season strongly, remaining unbeaten since their 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on December 6. Liverpool had similarly narrow misses in past seasons, losing the title to City by a single point twice.

City now aim to complete a domestic double by winning the FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley on May 25, a rematch of last year's final where Guardiola's team won 2-1 against Erik ten Hag’s side, taking a step closer to their treble.
